William Morris


William Morris (1834-1896) was probably the most influential designer of the 19th century, producing what have become classic and timeless designs. Under his direction Morris and Co grew into a flourishing and fashionable decorating firm renowned for its wallpapers and textiles. Originating in the Arts and Crafts Movement in the late Victorian era, the company's designs are ever more appreciated and collectable.

Two pieces of Cray in the blue colourway - large floral William Morris design printed by Morris and Co in 2002. It is curtain weight cotton suitable for projects needing a large floral print. Colours are raspberry and pale pink flowers with greens and pale cream on a duck egg blue background. The largest flower is 23cm x 18cm. Piece (a) is 112cm wide x 54cm and pice (b) measures 136cm x 65cm.

This is a pair of curtains in an unusual Golden Lily colourway. The fabric is cotton and they are fully lined with a 3 inch header tape. Used but in very good condition, no wear and tear or fading. The colours are pinks, corals, cream with green and grey leaves on a dark blue background - lovely strong colours. Pattern repeat is approx 35cm. They each measure 2 metres wide x 1.2 metres. The header tape is pulled but not tied so would be adjustable.

A lovely and unusual piece of William Morris Honeysuckle printed by Liberty. It is a linen union with pale pink and white flowers with grey and medium pink stems and leaves on a deep pink/burgundy background. The whole piece measures 120cm wide x 4.8 metres. [There is one small hole 40cm from one end next to the selvedge and a small piece cut out of one corner at the same end.]
